Evensha College is located at Treffusis Farm, 20km from Bindura, in a quiet resettlement setting that provides a peaceful and conducive learning environment. The school was founded in 2015, beginning humbly with a single ECD class that operated from the home of Mr and Mrs Shanyika. The idea of establishing the school was born during a community meeting in January 2015, where settlers agreed that every ward should have its own primary school to serve local children.
It took six months for The Shanyika Family to fully embrace the idea. One night, Mrs Shanyika dreamt of the school uniform, and upon waking, she felt a strong conviction to begin the project. She visited local villagers, who at the time were molding bricks for the future school, and informed them that she was ready to start offering ECD lessons. Parents were encouraged to bring their children to her home for registration. The very first learners began their journey at Evensha College in 2015, paying a modest $3 per month per child.
To establish the school formally, Mr and Mrs Shanyika approached Acris Primary School successfully, which agreed to be the mother school. With the grace and determination of the Shanyika family, they pledged for Mrs. Shanyika to initially serve as the ECD teacher, running the class for eight years, while training Mrs. Ngoma and Mrs. Masora to become part of the teaching team. By 2018, the school had constructed its first permanent structures, and with the introduction of Grade 4, the school officially shifted from the Shanyika family home to the formal site at Treffusis Farm.
As the school expanded, new teachers joined, including Mr. Paundi and Mrs. Antonio, and in 2019, college student Mrs. Makiwa became part of the staff. Evensha College progressed steadily with its first class of 2015, and when they sat for Grade 7, they achieved a pass rate of 88%, demonstrating the school’s commitment to academic excellence.
The school’s continued success inspired the desire to introduce Ordinary Level classes in 2023. That year, the Grade 7 results achieved 100%, placing Evensha College 5th in the district. Currently, the school has Form 3 students, gradually extending its secondary stream to completion.
EVENSHA College was founded with the intention of providing the Peri urban community a high standard, low fee, broad based primary and secondary school education in an atmosphere conducive to harmony and understanding between the different ethnic groups. The college is a non-racial, Christian and co-educational institution. The project has one object in mind, that is, to supply an educational establishment for children of Mashonaland Central that offers an education for them that is as good as can be obtained anywhere.

CHIEF MASEMBURA AT PROPOSED SITE
The College was conceived as a community project involving a great many people and businesses in Mtepatepa under Bindura. Plans for the first 6 classroom blocks were submitted to the Ministry of Education for approval in October 2017 and the cost work
of laying foundation and other services to the undeveloped land of fourteen hectares commenced. The college started with two classes of twenty-five ECD A and B pupils.
The spirit of “Excellence and Perfection” remains at the heart of Evensha College’s mission, inspiring students and staff alike to strive for greatness both inside and outside the classroom.
